Late Leader of Pakistan's Shias Commemorated in Qom

A conference was held Thursday evening in the holy city of Qom to pay tribute to the late Pakistani Shia leader Allama Syed Arif Hussain al-Hussaini.

Titled "Martyr Arif al-Hussaini's Fight against Zionism and Takfirism", the conference was attended by Iranian and expatriate seminary students and scholars.

In an address, Sawab Ali Heydari, a Pakistani student of Al-Mustafa International University, described Allameh al-Hussaini as a pupil of the awakening school of Imam Khomeini (RA) who strived to promote this school in Pakistan until the last moment of his life.

Seminary scholar Sheikh Qulam Muhammad Fakhreddin was another speaker who said bravery and Tawakkul (trust in God) were among the main characteristics of Allameh al-Hussaini.

He said Allameh al-Hussaini's heroism and his character should never be forgotten because he spread the spirit of awakening in Pakistan.

According to the website of Shaheed Foundation, Martyr Arif Hussain Al Hussaini was born on 25th November 1946 in a pious family of Parachinaar, Pakistan. At an early age he was very eager to learn the different dynamics of the society while sitting with elders and taking interest in their talks on a regular basis was common. He decided after completing matriculation to take admission in seminary of Jaffariya.

After getting a gist of the religious discourse, he decided to leave for Iraq and further dig the well of knowledge and get benefited from it. In 1967, he reached Iraq and applied to seminary of Shabbiriah".

While martyr Allama Arif ul Hussain Al Hussaini was studying in Najaf, Imam Khomeini (RA) was also living in Najaf in exile. Imam Khomeini (RA) then leads Maghribain prayers at the seminary of Ayatollah Broujardi and after prayers would deliver a lecture. The martyr listened to every lecture with complete concentration and after coming back from the lecture repeated what he learned to his fellow students in hostel where he lived with other students. He also encouraged them to attend the lectures by Imam Khomeini (RA).

When he returned to Pakistan was elected as leader of Tehrik Nifaz Fiqah Jafaria and started removing discrepancies in the Pakistani nation's beliefs and promoting Islamic awakening.

He was martyred in August 1988 at the age of 42.
