Statistics revealed that housing given to some 95,000 naturalized foreigners in Bahrain cost the government 2 billion and 289,000 Bahraini dinars.

Statistics revealed that housing given to some 95,000 naturalized foreigners in Bahrain cost the government 2 billion and 289,000 Bahraini dinars.

The statistics are based on dividing the number of naturalized persons over the past decade to families of 5 persons each, resulting in at least 19,000 families.

Average market price of houses in Bahrain is around 120,000 Bahraini dinars and the official average persons per family is 5.

The Bahraini opposition highlighted the difference between population growth based on vital statistics and official population growth statistics finding 95,000 individuals in between.

Bahrain has granted thousands of houses to families who received nationality over night whilst native Bahraini families stay on the waiting list for housing for over 20 years. The mentioned total cost of houses distributed to naturalized families exceeds an annual State-budget. More than 265,000 native Bahrainis are on the Government’s waiting list for housing.
