China's Muslims Association in a report said Chinese Quran reciters and memorizers participated in international Quran competitions in five countries this year.
It said that during 2014, representatives of China attended international Quranic events in Egypt, Iran, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
According to the association, China was represented in Egypt's International Quran Competition in May by one Quran reciter.
The country also sent a reciter and a memorizer to the 31st International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
A Chinese Qari and a Qaria (female reciter) took part in Malaysia's International Holy Quran Award in June this year, the report said.
Representatives from the East Asian country also participated in the 18th edition of Dubai International Holy Quran Award in July and Saudi Arabia's international Quran contest on memorization, recitation and interpretation of the Quran.
China is home to a large population of Muslims. Around 5 percent of the total population in China are said to be adherents of Islam.
