The people of Bahrain have been gathering continuously for more than 30 months now calling for their right to a democratic country, despite the ongoing security campaigns, killings, and violations against human rights.
The national democratic opposition parties in Bahrain stressed in the final communiqué of the mass demonstration on Friday, 8th August, 2014, that this overwhelming movement of the political and popular majority started and grew in peace and determination, in order to build a democratic system instead of the existing authoritarian rule.
Stressing that laws supporting tyranny to silence the people and applying restrictions on political activism are worthless. They are also void due to the contradiction with the people’s fundamental rights as well as international laws and commitments. The regime has perpetrated new violations of basic human rights in Bahrain, like the farce decisions of revoking citizenships and banning clerics from preaching. All this emphasizes the need of a political system which stems from the people and respects the rights of the people.
