Family of Bahraini prisoner uninformed of his situation since 10 days

Prisoner of conscience Ali Talib has not been allowed to communicate with his family since 10 days.

Prisoner of conscience Ali Talib has not been allowed to communicate with his family since 10 days. The family’s concern is growing and they have not been allowed to visit him in the Jau prison. The 36 year old is serving sentences with 7 cases, adding up to 50 years in prison.

The Liberties and Human Rights Department in Al Wefaq National Islamic Society has communicated with the International Red Cross about Ali Talib’s case.

Ali has been behind bars for 2 years now. Hundreds of Bahrainis are detained in connection with the oppressive crackdown on the pro-democracy uprising that erupted in 2011.

His family had received a call from the prison’s administration to visit him, but when they arrived they were told that he could not be brought to the visit room. No further information was provided. However, the family learned from sources inside the prison that he has been transferred to solitary confinement for over 10 days now.

The Jau prison administration must provide information to Ali’s family about his situation and the reasons why he has been put incommunicado.
