BAHRAIN - Al Wefaq National Islamic Society issued a statement about the insults published in the quasi-State press on Tuesday. Al Wefaq said the reckless and irresponisible rhetoric adopted by the Authority has opened the way for attacks against sacred figures of Islam.

Al Wefaq considers the insult against Imam Mahdi, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh), an insult against all Muslims. Such insults indicate the absence of law and the judiciary’s lack of neutrality.

The newspaper that published the insulting article is owned by the head of Government, and so the regime is fully responsible for this provocation. This behavior imposes an urgent necessity for a clean, responsible and uniting government that respects all religions and sects.
