Ayatollah Mohammad Mohammadi Gilani, a member of the Assembly of Experts, passed away in a hospital in Tehran on Wednesday. He was hospitalized for pulmonary disease for nearly three months. Ayatollah Mohammadi Gilani was a former member of the Guardian Council, former judge of Tehran’s Islamic Revolutionary Court, and the then chief justice of the supreme court of Iran. President Hassan Rouhani, Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani, and the board of directors of the Assembly of Experts issued separate condolence massages over the demise of the ayatollah.
