Scholar observes Iranian soccer players’ cultural role in FIFA World Cup

Noted scholar and poet Mir Jalal al-Din Kazzazi said the Iranian players who appeared in the FIFA World Cup 2014 were representatives of the Iranian culture, civilization and manners who had to shoulder a huge responsibility.

According to IBNA correspondent, Kazzazi stated: “Victory in the sport arenas such as the 2014 FIFA World Cup is not simply achieved by scoring goals and wining, but prior to that, the attitude and fair behavior of players will remain in the minds of spectators.”

The prominent Persian literature professor and the author of ‘The Ancient Book’ added: “For this reason the Iranian players in general must be cautious and have self-control since the real heroes of these matches are those who represent magnanimity originated from the sublime culture and attitude.”

Indeed, victory in the match grounds will be forgotten, but victory in terms of culture and manner will be engraved in the minds of people, because such tournaments and events are places where cultures and behaviors are put to test. Therefore any misconduct and unfairness is reflected throughout the world by the media and will be remembered by the nations,” he pointed out.
