Senior Iranian Shia cleric: 'Defending holy spots in Iraq is a must'

The Islamic Jurisprudent, Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi called on Iraqi people to preserve and defend holy places and spots in Iraq.

“Defending Iraq territory especially its holy places is shouldered by all those who respect and love Islam and Ahlalbayt,” said the grand Ayatollah naming the move as a Jahad which is chosen for the sake of God.

In his released massage to all Iraqi people from different Islamic denominations and sects, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi underscored those lose their lives for achieving this end are Martyrs.

“All of us know thereafter Israel and US faced a fiasco in Syria, they aimed at Iraq in a bid to make up their defeats in backing the extremist groups,” read the massage.

“To their lines, by scaling up showdowns among Iraqi Muslims who follow different sects and religious schools, they could fulfill their willful objectives,” Qom Seminary instructor underscored.

“But after a while, we witnessed they fell short of their expectations, inasmuch as Iraqi nations including all Shia and Sunni people stepped up and made a move against these lap dogs, helping Iraqi military in stopping the enemies,” pointed out Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi.

Touching the massage, Roughly 2 million Iraqi people registered for fighting with Terrorism and God willing they will work in tandem, achieving their objectives in the end.

“I openly assert that it is incumbent upon all who love Islam and Ahlalbayt to join defenders,” said the grand Ayatollah stating that the time is a good chance for Iraqi people to team up and form a strong army.

In the end, the massage anticipated the enemies will figure it out that they should face an army bearing millions of soldiers. The Islamic Jurisprudent also urged the Iraqi Youth be prepared and hit the battle if the Government asked them for.
