Sayed Hadi Almusawi, the head of Liberties and Human Rights Department in Al Wefaq National Islamic Society, considered the arrest of 17 year old Sayed Jihad as being arbitrary.
Sayed Jihad was arrested on 30th May while he was sitting at a shop’s door in Sar village. The village was not witnessing any protests at the time.
Sayed Jihad was not allowed to speak to his family for 48 hours after his arrest. His family spoke to him on Sunday, after his interrogation session in the Public Prosecution Office had ended.
Almusawi said that detaining Jihad under the Terrorism Law contradicts the Conviction on the Rights of the Child, which Bahrain is part of. Jihad will now be deprived from sitting for his final exams.
Reports said the Public Prosecution Office ordered for the detention of Sayed Jihad Almusawi for 60 days for charges of “gathering”, “committing riot acts” and “attacking a security patrol”.
A younger Jihad was accused of attacking a policeman, destroying 2 police patrols, committing riot acts, gathering and possessing Molotov cocktails. The 11 year old responded to the accusations with tears and denial of being guilty of. On 29thMay, the judiciary ordered to renew the detention period for Jihad Alsameea for another 7 days.
In the 2 hour long trial, Jihad Alsameea, hardly said anything, only his tears could speak out his agonies.
