Three inmates escape Bahrain detention center

Bahraini authorities on Monday announced the escape of three inmates from a prison on an island east of Manama, in the second such incident in a fortnight.

Bahraini authorities on Monday announced the escape of three inmates from a prison on an island east of Manama, in the second such incident in a fortnight.

“Security procedures are being taken to arrest three detainees who escaped from the Dry Dock Detention Center,” the ministry announced in a statement on Twitter.

Witnesses said several police patrols had been deployed along roads leading to the detention center, located on Muharraq, the second largest island in the archipelago kingdom after Manama.

Two inmates escaped last month from Jau in southwestern Bahrain, the kingdom’s main jail, and were later recaptured  at a house in the Shiite village of Saar with others “wanted in security cases,” according to the ministry.
