An eminent Indian Shia religious scholar Saturday slammed Bahrain government over expulsion of Sheikh Hussein al-Najati, the representative of the religious reference Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani in Bahrain.

Maulana Syed Jalal Haider Naqvi, President Shaheed Mottahhari Society in Delhi said, “The attitude of Bahraini government is inhuman and against all international laws and conventions”.

He said that the government has stripped cleric’s nationality which is an intolerable act. “Bahrainˈs government should desist from the ploy of the US and Israel and should immediately revoke the expulsion,” added Naqvi.

Jalal Haider, who is also the Joint Secretary of Majlis Ulema-e-Hind, denounced the discrimination against the Shiite majority and its spiritual leaders by the Bahrain authorities.

Demanding that the atrocities should be stopped and the rights of Shiites fully protected, he called on the UN and Amnesty International to intervene and ensure that the Bahrain Government takes positive steps to that end.
