Residential areas across Bahrain continue to witness daily attacks, starting from collective punishments to terrifying home raids. Just this morning, the regime’s forces have raided homes in the village of Mahouz. Nine youths have been arrested in the raids, four of whom from one family. The families said the security forces failed to present legal authorization to enter the homes. The raids were carried out early in the morning, accompanied by a low-hovering helicopter.
One of the arrested youths is reported to be suffering from weak eye-sight and has only recently returned from a 3 month treatment abroad.
Among the arrested are 2 volleyball players and a football player, all brothers and playing for Bahrain national teams.
In Salmabad, a 3 month infant was reported to have suffered from severe asphyxia due to the regime forces’ excessive use of toxic tear-gas in the area on Sunday. Sayed Haider, who was quickly taken to hospital, is not the first child to suffer from the regime’s regular targeting of homes with teargas. In December 2011, 5 day old Sajeda died due to being exposed to toxic teargas fired at homes in Bilad Qadeem, a suburb of the capital Manama.
The Liberties and Human Rights Department in Al Wefaq National Islamic Society confirmed that at least 22 unborn infants have died because mothers were exposed to toxic tear-gas.
