Sayyed Nasrallah: Danger of Syria’s fall doesn’t exist anymore

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah says the danger of Syrian government fall with the ongoing foreign-backed insurgency is now gone, so are the separation threats.

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah says the danger of Syrian government fall with the ongoing foreign-backed insurgency is now gone, so are the separation threats.

In an interview with the Arabic language Lebanese daily al-Safir, Nasrallah said the military option has no place in Syria any more.

He said, after three years of war, most of the countries favor a political solution to the deadly crisis in the Arab country. This, he added, would give a stronger position for the Russian government to be able to find a practical solution.

Russia has been one of the key players in the international efforts aimed at ending the extremist-marked war in Syria. Kremlin mediation averted a controversial US decision to bomb Syria over conflicting reports of a chemical attack in August 2013.

Nasrallah further said, we have no problem with our followers staying in Syria, and actually, some of those who opposed getting involved, even some from the Lebanese March 14 group, now think it was a necessary move to protect Lebanon from Takfiri extremist groups.

March 14, led by Lebanese MP Saad al-Hariri, has been opposing Hezbollah presence at the Syria-Lebanon border areas, calling on the group to pull out.

However the group says its presence is needed to secure border areas, which many in Lebanon believe has proved effective, as the country has already suffered from the Syria war spillover with many Takfiri groups infiltrating Lebanon.
