Muslims Pray for Missing Malaysia Jetliner

As rescuers continue their desperate efforts to locate the missing Malaysian jetliner, Muslim religious authorities in eastern Malaysia Terengganu state have called for special prayers to seek the safety of the passengers and the crew.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - “This is what we can do, by having such prayers at all mosques in the state in seeking the safety of all the passengers and crew and with the hope of finding the aircraft,” Mohd Rozali Saleh, commissioner of Terengganu Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAT), told Bernama on Sunday, March 9.

Saleh added that JHEAT has advised all mosques in the state to perform prayer of need to seek the safety of the passengers and crew on board a missing Kuala Lumpur-Beijing bound Malaysia Airlines (MAS) plane.

Flight MH370, carrying 227 passengers, including two infants, and 12 crew, went missing en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing about an hour after taking off from the KL International Airport at 12.41 am Saturday.

The head of Malaysia's Civil Aviation Authority, Azharuddin Abdul Rahman, said a hijacking attempt could not be ruled out as investigators explore all theories for the loss of flight MH370 en route to Beijing.

On Monday, other prayers were led by Ustaz Tuan Ismail Tuan Abdullah from the home ministry that efforts to locate the aircraft proceed unhindered.

Also present in the congregation was Anggraini Sentiyakithe, wife of the federal territories minister, who visited the next-of-kin of the passengers and crew members of MH370 at their accommodation in Putrajaya, Monday.
