Shia Muslims Mark Imam Hasan Askary’s Birthday in Kano (Images)

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The auspicious birthday of Imam Hasan Askary (alaihis salam) was commemorated at Murtala Muhammad Library, Kano on Sunday the 23rd of Feb. 2014. The programme, organized by Business Group of the Islamic Movement, was attended by large number of people.In his opening speech, The Guest Speaker Sheikh Muhammad Turi , said the aim of Maulid gathering is to reflect on the life and teachings of the holy  Prophet (SAWA) and holy  Imams(AS) for emulation.Speaking on the 11th Imam of the Muslims, Sheikh Turi explained that Imam Hasan Askary(AS) was born  on Friday the 8th of R/Awal 232AH in Madina; and  in his 28 years of  blissful life  the Imam suffered so much in the hands of the  Kings to the extent that he was put under  tight security in army barrack in Samarra, Iraq. Spies were installed in the barrack to report to the kings about anything the Imam was doing. However, the Imam was only occupied with devotion to Allah and Prayers.   Sheikh Turi further drew  some lessons from the exemplary life of the holy Imam which include helping the weak and poor. The Imam was reported to have said ‘always be of help to weak and downtrodden around you’. Earlier on, Sheikh Turi reminded the gathering on the Will of the holy Prophet concerning the lofty things he left behind for the Ummah- the book of Allah and Ahlulbayt(AS). He explained that  the predicament of the Ummah lies in leaving the behind the Will of the Prophet regarding the Two Lofty things.-Quran and Ahlulbayt(AS) adding that  going back to them is the greatest challenge which every Muslim must embark upon.Invited guests include Sheikh Yakubu Yahaya Katsina, Mallam Adamu Bachirawa and hosts of others./149
