"Islamic Schools of Thought Oppose Takfir" senior Shia cleric

A senior advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution underlined that Islamic schools of thought, including Shia and Sunni, are opposed to Takfir.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) -  A senior advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution underlined that Islamic schools of thought, including Shia and Sunni, are opposed to Takfir.Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri made the remark in a visit to Tunisia’s Al-Zaytuna University on Friday, adding that based on the views of leaders of Islamic sects, belief in God and prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH) is enough for one to be called Muslim.Takfiri extremists consider some Muslims to be infidels.Ayatollah Taskhiri added that having different views on issues other than Islam’s principles is usual.Elsewhere in his remarks, the senior cleric underlined the need for upholding Islamic unity through proximity of Islamic schools of thought.He said Muslim world scholars ought to adopt a unity approach and prevent the spread of religious extremism.During his visit to Al-Zaytuna University, Ayatollah Taskhiri was honored by the chancellor of the university for his scientific endeavors and his efforts for proximity of Islamic schools of thought.Ayatollah Taskhiri travelled to Tunisia to take part to take part in a conference on “Human Messages of Iran’s Islamic Revolution and Tunisia’s Reform Movement”./129
