According to the Lebanese news website Al-Ahd, affiliated to Hezbollah Islamic resistance movement, in the missile attack which was launched from a remote distance, the holy shrine’s dome was partly damaged.

The news agency added that the Syrian Army had almost a month ago managed to liberate the holy shrine of Lady Sakinah (P) about a month ago from the occupation of the disbeliever, armed terrorists and clear off the vicinity areas of the holy site from their unpleasant presence.

The Wednesday attack from far distance is believed to have been conducted using a locally manufactured missile.

Sayeda Sakinah was born on 20th of the lunar month of Rajab, 56 AH. Her early years were said to have been spent in Medina. Her brothers included Ali ibn Hussain, Ali al-Akbar ibn Hussain, and Ali Asghar ibn Hussain. Her sisters included Fatimah as-Sughra’a and Fatimah al-Kubra’a.

According to Shi’a Muslims, she accompanied her father, Imam Hussain (P) when he traveled from Mecca to Kufa. Conflict over Islamic principles led to conflict between Yazid and her father Imam Hussain (P) and final battle on 10th of Muhurram, they martyred the entire household of that infallible Imam (P) and his companions and then captured the survivers. The survivers included Imams sisters, wives, and daughters including Sakinah, family members of companions of the Imam and the Imams son Imam Ali ibn-al Hussain, alias Zainul Abeddin who was ill and could not participate in battle as a result.

In Damascus Yazid thought that he had won his throne, was enjoying each moment and was imposing torments upon the women and children of Imam and his companions.

However, Imams sister Zeynab (P) the brave daughter of Imam Ali (P), his son Imam Zainul Abeddin (P), Imams daughter Fatima al-Kubra (P) and some others delivered sermons and fought their case in front of entire court of tyrant.

Sayeda Sakinah bint al-Hussain (P) was the daughter of Hussain ibn Ali (P). The word Sakinah is a derivative of Sakoon meaning Peace.

Sayeda Sakinah was the most beloved daughter of Imam Hussain ibn Ali (P) and used to sleep on his chest every night. Being the daughter of the third Imam, she was different from other children of her age in many ways. She was very religious and enjoyed reading the Holy Qur’an and never missed her prayers. From a very early age, she took great care to make sure that her head and body were properly covered when in public.

Hussain ibn Ali was often heard saying, A house without Sayeda Sakinah would not be worth living in.

Lady Sakinah passed away shortly after her holy father’s martyrdom in Karbala at age of four due to the deep sorrow she suffered from the loss of her great father.
