He was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH), where doctors pronounced him dead. The victim was on his way to the New Karachi SP office, where he worked in its legal branch. He was in plain clothes.While there might be sectarian motive for the killing, the police believed that he was targeted for being a police officer, the officer added.Over 20 policemen have been killed in the city in January alone.Shia educationist shot martyred, his wife injured in terrorist attack in KarachiIt was recently reported from Karachi that four people, along with Professor Azhar Zaidi, were killed in separate firing incidents which took place in the city. She was shifted to a nearby hospital in order to recover.On the other hand, the body of Professor Azhar Zaidi was also taken to the same hospital for Medical and Legal formalities.Shia parties and leaders have condemned the targeted assassination of Shia professional. They demanded public hanging of the terrorists.Imambargah caretaker and religious scholar shot martyred in KarachiThe caretaker of an Imambargah was gunned down in a sectarian attack in Sir Syed Town.Police said Akbar Hussain, 30, was riding a motorcycle when gunmen also on a motorcycle attacked him in Rasheedabad, New Karachi. He was taken to ASH, where he was declared dead.They said that the terrorists riding on motorbike were chasing him that showed they knew of his movement.Takfiri terrorists had an organized system of recce due to which they hit and run without any fear.The victim lived in Tori-Bangash Colony. “Akbar Hussain was a caretaker of an Imambargah and his murder appears to be an act of sectarian killing,” said SSP-Central Amir Farooqi.A Majlis-i-Wahdatul Muslimeen spokesman said the victim was not only the custodian of the Imambargah but also a religious scholar.His funeral prayer was led by Allama Shaikh Hassan Salahuddin, a senior leader of the MWM, which was attended by hundreds of people.Shia parties and leaders have condemned the targeted assassination of a relatively young custodian of Imam Bargah. They said that the government had given the terrorists another chance to continue by forming talks committee. They said that Pakistan could not be able to get rid of the menace of terrorism without a military operation against the terrorists./149
