Bahrain opposition parties: scheduled bilateral meetings are essential to face obstacles

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Delegates of the National Democratic Opposition Parties in Bahrain have met with the  Royal Court Minister, Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Al Khlaifa, Tuesday 21st January, 2014.  The delegation was represented by Khalil Al-Marzooq, the political assistant of Al-Wefaq Secretary General, Sayed Jameel Khadhim , head of Al-Wefaq Shura Council , Dr. Hassan Al-A’ali , the secretary General of the Democratic Gathering Society , Mr.Abdullah Janahi vice president of the central committee in Wa’ad Society.The meeting follows a recent meeting with the Crown Prince to launch a new  serious and meaningful dialogue and  to reach a productive  national consensus that helps resolve the political deadlock in the country  and reach a political resolution that fulfills the popular demands as well as the aspirations of the people of Bahrain.The meeting’s discussion was honest and transparent. The opposition delegates presented their views regarding power-sharing  in a  real political process that should lead to an inclusive democratic political system which guarantees dignity, justice and equality for all Bahrainis. They also stressed on the need of increasing the level of representation in the official side  as it was agreed upon  during the previous meeting with Crown Prince.“Creating a  positive atmosphere is so vital to embrace the dialogue and the political resolution”, the opposition stressed. “The local media should also  play a positive role to bring all Bahrainis together, and the security crackdown must be ended immediately” the opposition emphasized. The opposition have also demanded the halt of  all politicized trials as well as prejudiced measures that are being practiced against tge majority of the people and to release all political prisoners. The opposition stated that such measures will create constructive conditions to end violence which it denounces.“It is necessary that bilateral meetings  are scheduled to help deal with the obstacles and difficulties that had distrupted the National Dialogue and to help reach an inclusive political resolution”, the opposition stressed.The democratic  opposition parties  have also stressed that the current parties that form the opposition are actually a national political team which has assigned the Secretary Generals of tge opposition societies to be the representatives in the coming meetings.The democratic opposition parties presented the most crucial issues which will help reach an inclusive political resolution : Fair elections and electoral constituencies, transparency, equality for all which is based on one vote for each citizen, forming an elected government and its authorities, forming the elected legislative power with full legislative and regulatory powers, fair and impartial judiciary, diversified security forces. These were the main topics raised during the meeting in addition to the controversial issue of naturalization, discrimination and corruption. The delegates also stressed on reaching a human rights system that denounces violence and hatred and encourages transitional justice. Finally, the democratic  opposition parties  stressed that the success of a national resolution is guaranteed by giving the people the final say on the constitutional draft through a popular referendum that gains the constitution popular legitimacy, and this is a fundamental right.
