(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) Bahrain’s Council of Shia Scholars has urged for the immediate release of a Shia cleric detained by Al Khalifa regime.The council issued a statement, expressing worries about the conditions of Sayyed Mahmodu Al-Musawi who was arrested by regime forces on Thursday, Al-Wefaq website reported.“As of yet, there are no reports about the health conditions of this Shia cleric who was detained by the headsmen of Al Khalifa,” the statement read.The council criticized how the regime forces treat the country’s scholars, and said storming the scholars’ houses and confiscating their properties run counter to human rights and will intensify the political crisis in the country.Mahmoud Al-Musawi was detained in his home in Bani Jamara region on Thursday morning, January 9.Regime forces searched his house and took away his computer, books and other personal items.Al-Musawi is a cultural activist and an author who has written 20 books in different categories.Since mid-February 2011, thousands of pro-democracy protesters have held numerous demonstrations in the streets of Bahrain, calling for the Al Khalifa regime to relinquish power./149
