Karachi Shias bury murdered Allama Deedar Ali Jalbani

The funeral prayers of Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) leader Allama Deedar Ali Jalbani, and his security guard have been offered at Numaish Chowrangi on Wednesday, Geo News reported.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - A spokesman for the MWM had earlier announced that the funeral will be held in front of the Sindh CM’s House but due to blockade, the funeral took place at Numaish Chowrangi at 10 am. 

Sources said that Allama Deedar Jalbani’s burial will take place in Jalbani village in Khairpur.

Following the funeral prayers, the supporters protested at Numaish Chowrangi and demanded the government to arrest the culprits in 24 hours. 

Following the incident on Tuesday, MA Jinnah Road was blocked and protesters pelted passing vehicles with stones, which resulted in traffic jams in many parts of the city. Petrol and CNG filling stations were also closed.

Road leading from MA Jinnah Road to Empress Market was also closed.

MWM leader Allama Nasir Abbas demanded of the government to arrest killers of Allama Deedar Jalbani within 24 hours. He appealed to the COAS to conduct operation against terrorist across Pakistan.

It may be mentioned that on Tuesday, a senior leader MWM Allama Deedar Ali Jalbani, 50, was shot dead along with his security guard on the University Road when he was going to attend a current affairs programme at a local TV channel. Two armed men on a motorcycle intercepted his black Honda City car and showered him and his guard with bullets.

The incident took place near the NED University on the University Road in front of the MCB Bank and in the incident both Allama Jalbani and his guard Sarfaraz Hussain, 25, died on the spot.

The SP Gulshan termed the incident as “sectarian killing” but added that the police had started an investigation into the case from various angles. Allama Jalbani was the prayer leader at the Hussaini Imambargah in Ayub Goth, in the Sachal Goth area, and was very active in the religious affairs of the community.

Following the killing of Allama Jalbani and his guard, businesses, eateries and shops on the University Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Numaish, Guru Mandir, Solider Bazaar, Ancholi and other areas of the city were closed and traffic jams were witnessed.

Security was increased in various city police zones and Rangers and police were seen carrying out snap checking in different areas.

A spokesman for the MWM strongly condemned the target killing of Allama Jalbani along with his guard and termed it a bid to destabilise peace, religious harmony and provoke sectarian strife in the country.

Announcing three days of mourning, the spokesman urged the MWM followers to remain peaceful despite the heinous crime.

He demanded of the government to arrest the killers of Allama Jalbani within 24 hours and provide protection to religious figures and workers in the country.

The Shia Ulema Council, a body of Shia Ulema in the country, also condemned the killing of Allama Jalbani and demanded the arrest of killers as well as protection to Shia youth and Ulema.
