“Social Justice in View of Martyr Motahhari” Seminar Held in Indonesia

A seminar titled “Social Justice in View of MartyrMotahhari” was held by the Social Sciences Faculty of Sunan Kalijaga Islamic University in Indonesia.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) The Institute for Studies of Islamic Ideology cooperated in organization of the program attended by Hojatullah Ebrahimian, Iranian cultural attaché, Mohsen Labib, Professor of philosophy at Sadra University of Jakarta and Mohammad Supaja, Professor of social sciences at Gadjah Mada University.Addressing the seminar, Labib said that the thoughts of eminent religious figures such as Martyr Motahhari have been disseminated in Indonesia after the victory of the Islamic revolution and have had positive influences on the youth of the country.He added that the enemies relate the martyr’s thoughts to the differences between Shia and Sunni Muslims, and do not let the thoughts to be developed among the Indonesian youth with the excuse that such beliefs are political.  But the universities of the country are willing to get acquainted with the philosophical and scientific thoughts of the scholar, he added.Supraja then discussed and investigated the viewpoints of Martyr Motahhari about social justice.Also speaking at the program, Ebrahimian, Iranian cultural attaché in Indonesia, clarified the concept of justice in view of Marxism, Liberalism and Islam.He said that social justice according to the scholar neither coincides with Marxist socialism nor with Liberalist individualism, but in Martyr Motahhari’s view both the individual and the society are important.The Iranian official also presented three meanings for social justice, and noted that the third meaning which introduces social justice as a behavior based on rules and regulations is acceptable by the scholar.He further elaborated on the influence of social justice in the society and the methods to realize it.A book fair was also held on the sidelines of the seminar by Roshanfekr Institute and the Institute for Studies of Islamic Ideology.On the occasion of Iranian Book Week, the Iranian Cultural Center gifted 300 books to the Indonesian Institute for Studies of Islamic Ideology./149
