Bahrain: Khalil Al Marzooq stands before court today

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The regime in Bahrain is insisting on trying Khalil Al Marzooq, the Political Assistant of Al Wefaq’s Secretary General for accusations that contradict to his political views of peaceful activism in his people’s struggle for democratic transition. Al Marzooq is to appear before court on Monday 18th November, 2013 after his release from detention where he had spent 38 days.Al Wefaq National Islamic Society said that Al Marzooq’s trial is politically motivated and lacks credibility considering his trial a prosecution of political activism in Bahrain.Al Marzooq’s arrest had sparked international condemnation of Bahrain by the United Sates, the European Union and international rights organizations like Amnesty and Human Rights Watch as well as local and regional organizations.Al Wefaq stated that the evidence put forward by Al Marzooq’s defense panel are strong enough to close the case which lacked credibility in the first place and is no more than a targeting of the opposition members./129
