(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - "Nobody is allowed to prevent Shia religious ceremonies during Muharram as long as they comply with Islamic laws and teachings".
This is according to Sheikh Abdul Hamid Al-Atrash, former head of the Dar-ul-Ifta Committee of Al-Azhar religious center in Egypt.
He criticized threats made by Salafists against Shia mourning ceremonies and said no one should be allowed to impede the Shia mourning ceremonies in Muharram.
Al-Atrash underlined that if anyone can threaten others like this the country will be drawn into chaos and disorder.
Salafist groups have recently made anti-Shia comments and warned against Shia rituals in Egypt.
Hazem Al-Hiblawi who heads the Egyptian Salafist group Bariz has said Shia rituals should not be held at Al-Hussein (AS) Mosque in Cairo.
Muhammad Hassan, a spokesman for Al-Jamia Islmaia has said organizing Shia rituals needs a new permission by the government.
