(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Head of the freedoms and human rights department of Bahrain’s Al-Wefaq Islamic Movement made the remark in reaction to the Bahraini regime’s attack on mourning ceremonies marking the anniversary of Imam Hussein’s (AS) martyrdom in Muharram.Hadi Al-Mousawi criticized the Al Khalifa regime for the attacks, underlining that holding religious rituals have been emphasized in all laws and no one can deny people the right to freely organize religious rites. He said the rituals of Ashura are part of the beliefs of Bahrainis and putting restrictions on Ashura processions is tantamount to violating human rights.“Instead of restricting religious freedoms, the authorities (in Bahrain), in line with their responsibilities, must protect these freedoms in order to safeguard the country’s security.”He further noted that the UN Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion and the human rights organizations have been informed about cases of violation of Bahraini’s human rights by the Al Khalifa regime. As well as attacking mourning ceremonies and religious services, the Al Khalifa regime, backed by Saudi forces, have destroyed 25 mosques and 18 Husseiniyas (Shia mourning halls) since the start of the Bahraini revolution in February 2011./129
