Book to be released on animal rights in Mecca

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The 2nd volume of 'Animal Support in Islam' is about to be published with focus on animal rights in the city of Mecca and the time of pilgrimage.

Penned by Seyyed Hashem Naji Mousavi, the book argues that animals have rights which are almost the same all around the world, while they may vary considerably in the territory of Mecca and during the pilgrimage period.

As an example, if a pilgrim torments or kills a dove, they are required to slaughter a camel besides repenting.

The religion of Islam requires pilgrims not to kill any creatures during hajj, and even does not allow them to shoo insects away unless they bother them.

The work further categorized details about the Islamic law regarding animals in Mecca like the kinds of animals or the place where tormenting should take place.

It also addresses Mecca pilgrims and everybody else interested in reading details about Islam's respect for animals and will be presently available in the Iranian book market.
