(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Bahrain Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society strongly denounced the regime’s systematic intentions to kill and harm its own people; especially after revealing a dangerous contract to import policing equipments (1.6 million toxic and lethal tear gas canisters)– sometimes weaponized against pro-democracy citizens. The cost of such deals are boldly taken from the people’s money and used for official crime.Al-Wefaq pointed out that such deadly contracts should be internationally condemned as they are inappropriately used against the pro-democracy people of Bahrain. The regime is carrying out a real war against its own people by flooding the populated neighborhoods with lethal toxic gas and subjecting them to collective punishment measures for their pro-democracy stances. The use of tear gas in Bahrain has been widely condemned by prominent international human rights organizationa as a mean to kill because it has been weaponized and used as ammunition to kill pro-democracy protesters. These gas canisters contain lethal ingredients that could lead to serious illnesses on the long run.Al-Wefaq stated that such deals to buy huge quantities of lethal gases reveal the regime’s intentions for more systematic plans to kill more innocent pro-democracy citizens. Many reports of human rights organisations show that scores of elderly people – men and women- as well as children have died due to the excessive and indiscriminate use of these gas to stop the people from calling for democracy. About 90% of populated areas across Bahrain are systematically subjected to lethal toxic gases by directly or indirectly firing at houses as sometimes over 600 tear gas canisters are fired in an area of 100 meters, such attacks have been recorded by cameras and through the damages they cause to the targeted areas and places.Al-Wefaq pointed out that tear gas grenades in Bahrain are weaponized and used to kill pro-democracy protesters by targeting the upper part of the protesters’ bodies. Such brutal and inappropriate use of tear gas canisters have led to the death of over 85 martyrs. Moreover, opposition leaders as well as activists have also been targeted by directly firing tear gas at the upper part of their bodies, the regime forces attempted to assassin Al-Wefaq Secretary General on 22nd June 2012 in the same way.Ali Jawad Al-Shaikh , 15 years old, was killed by a tear gas canister fired at his neck from close range. Ahmed Shams was also killed by a tear gas canister fired at his head. An elderly women and a young man died due to inhaling great quantities of lethal tear gas fired deliberately inside their homes, both died on 25th March 2012 in different areas.Al-Wefaq pointed out that the indiscriminate use of teargas targets all factions including the expatriates who live in the same targeted areas, thus, affecting the commercial activities of the shops and the schools.Al-Wefaq stated that there have been ongoing calls by the international community on the regime to stop the its ruthless use of such deadly weapons and stop importing toxic tear gas, one if which was the International Fedral’s open letter, to the European Union in December 2012.Video: The documented deliberate murder of Mahmood al-Jazeeri with a direct teargas shot.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvxLZ1tsL4gVideo: dangerous targeting of a woman and her children inside her car.http://youtu.be/IhpW-r-bqRc/129
