(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Witnesses in Bahrain blame Al Khalifa regime’s security forces for the shooting and stabbing to death of a protester in the Persian Gulf country.
Hossein Mahdi's body was found on Malikiyah beach, west of the capital Manama on Friday. He had been shot by a bullet and stabbed several times, witnesses say.
They are blaming regime forces for his death.
The 20-year-old was arrested last year and sentenced to 15 years in prison on charges of attacking a police station.
But he escaped from jail five months ago.
Since mid-February 2011, thousands of pro-democracy protesters have staged numerous demonstrations in the streets of Bahrain, calling for the Al Khalifa royal family to relinquish power. The protests have been met with a heavy-handed crack-down.
Physicians for Human Rights says doctors and nurses have been detained, tortured, or disappeared because they have "evidence of atrocities committed by the authorities, security forces, and riot police" in the crackdown on anti-government protesters.
