“Shia Tradition and Iran” Published in New York

A book titled “Shia Tradition and Iran: Contemporary Global Perspective” has been published by Iran Cultural Center in New York in cooperation with Global Scholarly Publications.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - the 299-page book includes 12 articles by eminent scholars and intellectuals from among Shia Muslims and followers of other faiths. The main objective of the book which is edited by Mohsen Eslami is to investigate intellectual, theoretical and practical potentials and capabilities of Shiite in establishment of cultural and political systems. In fact the book answers many questions of American academics, students and scholars about political and cultural nature of Shiism. The main approach of the book is to introduce the model of Shia discourse manifesting in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Although some parts of the book includes discussions on traditions and civilization of Shiism during the history, the body of the work presents a modern Shia model in the contemporary world. Readers of the book find articles by Mahmoud Ayoub, Professor of Temple University, Liyakat Takim, Professor of McMaster University of Canada, Habibah Rahim, lecturer of Saint Jones University in New York, and Mohammad Bagher Khorramshad, head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) in Iran. The book also covers articles by Douglas Hustter, head of the New York Church, Idris Hamid, lecturer at Colorado State University, Mohammad Reza Dehshiri, research and education deputy of ICRO, Randy Paul, President of Foundation for Religious Diplomacy of America, Jung, lecturer of Moravian College in Pennsylvania, Leo from Pecan University and Mohsen Eslami, Iranian cultural attaché in New York./149
