(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Bahrain’s Shia Leader Sheikh Isa Qassim urged Bahrainis to actively take part in peaceful demonstrations demanding their rights. In his Friday prayer sermons on September 27, Ayatollah Qassim stressed that the Bahraini nation will never want foreign intervention as it would threaten the country’s national security, Sawt Manama website reported. He said the ruling regime as well as other countries, nations and organizations are viewing the Bahrainis’ rallies to assess the rightfulness of the rallies, moderation in their slogans, the level of their peacefulness and their seriousness in pursuing their demands. The Shia cleric underlined that the popular movement in Bahrain continues despite oppressions, tortures, and crackdowns by the government and its agents. He criticized the government decision to dissolve the Islamic Council of Shia Scholars, and said those who made the decision should realize that it would lead to the isolation of hundreds of religious scholars in the country.Ayatollah Qassim also noted that while the opposition insists on peaceful protests and even those scholars who have been sentenced to time in jail urge for peaceful demonstrations, the regime continues to use violence against Bahrain’s popular movement. He stressed that all of those with sane mind and everyone who loves his country approve of the peaceful option and warn against violence and terrorism. /129
