Bahraini regime arrests the Shiite Political Assistant of Al-Wefaq’s Secretary-General

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society in Bahrain said Khalil Al Marzooq, its Secretary-General’s Political Assistant and the resigned First Deputy of the President of the Representatives House has been taken to the Public Prosecution Office after he was summoned at Budaiya police station this morning.Al-Wefaq considers the step a security escalation and a big project conducted by the Government to wipe out political action.   Al-Wefaq stresses that this summon is a clear targeting of political action in Bahrain and reflects the regime’s attempts to push the country into further complication and escalation due to its reckless decisions and repression.     Al-Wefaq stated that this summon is a practical reaction to the recommendations of the international community and the condemnation by 47 states as well as European Parliament of the human rights situation in Bahrain and the calls to release all prisoners of conscience.     Al-Wefaq announced that its General-Secretariat has held an extraordinary meeting to discuss the security deterioration and the regime’s recklessness in the past few hours. The meeting discussed the summoning of Khalil Al Marzooq, the regime’s attempts to deport Ayatollah Sheik Hussain Najati after revoking his citizenship as well as its attempts to dissolve the Olamaa Clerics Council.  /129
