Iran releases elegies about Imam Hussein in Moscow

The Balkar translation of elegies about Imam Hussein, 3rd Shi’a imam, has been published in Moscow by Iran’s Islamic Culture and Relations Organization.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - According to the public relations office and information center of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), the elegies reflect the events that took place in the desert of Karbala and the day of Ashura.

The Karachay-Balkar language is a Turkic language spoken by the Karachays and Balkars.

The modern Karachay-Balkar written language is based on the Karachay-Baksan-Chegem dialect.

Binograv Batlal has rendered the book into Balkar language. The translator has tried to maintain the original melody and tone of the elegies for the target readers.

The work was originally penned during the final years of the 19th century.
