(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Pas has been told to form a task force to clarify allegations concerning the involvement of several of its senior leaders in Shia teachings in this country.
Former Perak Pas Youth chief Dr Mazlan Ismail, who made the call, said the Shia movement within the party was not a new issue.
"They have already tried to curb this teaching within the party before," he said after speaking at a Ceramah Ihya Ramadan in Darul Wedah here yesterday.
Mazlan said it was difficult to detect followers of the Shia sect because the group often concealed its identity and lied to avoid detection.
"This (Shia teaching) is a serious matter as it involves Muslims' akidah (faith) and Pas, as an Islamic party, should state its stand on the Shia movement in the country."
The Muslim community here follows the sunnah waljamaah (Sunni) sect and the preaching of the Shia sect is forbidden.
Mazlan said it was important that the Pas leadership make its stand since Shia teachings were forbidden in the country.
Mazlan also lauded the efforts made by the Kedah government in gazetting the National Fatwa Council's ruling in 1996 that Shia teachings were deviant.
He said the Pas Kelantan government should also take the same action in curbing Shia teachings.

In Kuala Lumpur, Barisan Nasional secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor urged the Shia followers to return to the true teachings of Islam by closely adhering to the Quran and Sunnah.
He said there were certain groups, or quarters, in Pas who were following and practising Shia simply to gain political mileage among Muslims.
"Please don't be influenced by these irresponsible quarters, as the practice of Shia is forbidden in the country," he said after a breaking of fast event at Surau Jumaat in Kampung Malaysia Tambahan, Sungai Besi, here last night.
The World Should take notice of the Ban on Shia community to perform their religious rites, and they should learn lesson from the Countries like Iran and Lebanon where religious freedom is even for Non Muslims, while Malaysia who poses as liberal country, are extremist who Just want to enforce their own sect on all, and doesn't give liberty to practice, the religion and sect of their choice.
There are various efforts had been taken by the government to check the spread of Shiite in the country.
This include issuing of fatwa that prohibits the spread of shiite, public awareness talks and monitoring and control of materials promoting Shiite.
