Sheikh Ali Salman: We will not accept a meaningless solution to the crisis

Sheikh Ali Salman, the secretary-general of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society stated that Al-Wefaq would not accept solutions that do not take Bahrain out of its crisis.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Sheikh Ali Salman, the secretary-general of Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society stated that Al-Wefaq would not accept solutions that do not take Bahrain out of its crisis.“We met with representatives of Britain and America more than once. Let me tell you, for the sake of this country, my hand reaches out to all to produce a solution that fulfils everyone’s interests. I do not want a solution that is unfair to Sunnis. But I also do not want a solution that is unfair to Shiites. Is this message clear?” he said.“Al-Wefaq will not engage in non-serious solutions and it is not ready to leave Bahrain under an endless whirlpool of crises. Other than this, it is ready for all possibilities. I hope this is clear to Britain and America”, he stated. His statements came during an open discussion in Sitra Island, south of the capital Manama, on Saturday night 20th July.In response to the media campaign and threats against him as well as the opposition, he said, “We do not fear the oppression and arrogance that goes back for decades. This time, we want to break this cycle so nobody feels frightened after this uprising”.He explained that “Al-Wefaq’s condemnation statements on doubted incidents such as the Riffa explosion are made because we believe and we are always worried that such suspicious incidents might have been planned by non-civilians for certain political purposes”./129
