National Course for Imams of Mosques Planned in Algeria

Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in Algeria announced that a national course will be held for imams and custodians of mosques and teachers of Quranic sciences in the country.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - According to elmoudjahid website, Buabdullah Gholamullah said that 400 imams of mosques, 200 Quran teachers and 400 custodians of mosques in Algeria will be educated during the course to be held in 10 national specialized institutes of Algeria’s Endowments Office all over the country. To be certified as an imam of mosque or teacher of Quranic sciences, the participants should memorize the entire Quran and the ones seeking for custodianship of mosques should memorize at least half of the Quran’s verses. Those willing to attend the course should send required certificates and documents to the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs of the country by one month. The national course will be organized following the decision recently made by the ministry to unify education of imams of mosques and creating more coordination in training of this group of people. Over 1200 imams of mosques and Quran teachers are studying at 9 national institutes for training of imams in Algeria. Women acquainted with religious sciences have also been recently invited to register at the institutes to attend such courses./149
