(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Al-Wefaq National Islamic society strongly denounced the immoral and inhumane behavior of the regime against female detainees inside detention. The behavior of the regime lacks national, islamic and humane values, Al-Wefaq added. On Thursday 11 July, 2013, Rayhana Al-Mosawi, a Bahraini female detainee, told the court her tragic story of torture inside detention and how she was inhumanely stripped of her clothes. Journalists and observers were prevented from attending the hearing session, which was held with strict security measures, as the detainees were prevented from telling their full stories of brutal torture to the judge. The stories of torture and harassment were told few hours after the prime minister thanked an acquitted torturer accused of torturing the medics, telling them “The law will not be applied to you” and “I thank you for your work”. Al-Wefaq considered such outrageous inhumane behavior as a moral downfall which reveals a new strategy by the regime to deal with dissidents. However, all regime officials are responsible for all the consequences because they are aware of the authority’s behavior. The regime is no longer capable of protecting the citizens as it supports the culture of impunity by acquitting torturers and thanking them and encouraging them to commit more vindictive crimes against dissidents, Al-Wefaq added. Al-Wefaq stressed that all outrageous stories of torture inside and outside detentions make Bahrain ” the capital of torture” and deliver a clear message to the international community that the popular demand for democratic transition which has been raised by the people of Bahrain is legitimate to put an end to the dictatorship.Al-Wefaq concluded that the outrageous ill-treatment of women is a humiliation to all Bahrainis who are known to be conservative people and consider dignity a sensative issue.A national and elected government is a vital necessity to replace the current government which degrades its citizens and all human values ./129
