(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Egypt’s Al-Azhar Islamic Center regarded recent remarks by Yusuf Al-Qaradawi as an insult to the Egyptian nation and involvement in the sedition.Qatari-based cleric and head of the International Union of Muslim Scholars Yusuf Al-Qaradawi has recently taken a stance in support of the deposed Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, saying that millions of Egyptians who took to the streets on June 30 were not representative of the country’s nation. He has also issued a Fatwa requiring that Mohamed Morsi return to power in Egypt.Al-Azhar in a statement rejected Al-Qaradawi’s Fatwa, saying that the words and expression used by Al-Qaradawi in his Fatwa are an indication that he is involved in the Fitna (sedition). It also criticized Al-Qaradawi’s disrespect for the Muslim Ummah and Islamic scholars.Egypt has been the scene of political mayhem in recent weeks. Last week after a joint meeting with the Sheikh of Al-Azhar, head of Egypt’s Coptic community, leader of Nour Salafist party, and Mohamed Al-Baradei as well as representatives of revolutionary youths, Defense Minister and Army Chief General Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi ousted Morsi and transferred power to the head of the Constitutional Court. The participation of Al-Azhar’s Sheikh in this meeting has angered the Muslim Brotherhood that supports Mohamed Morsi. /129
