Bahrain nonstop violations: 263 homes raided in 1 month

The Liberties and Human Rights Department in Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society revealed numbers of the regime’s violations in June 2013. The number of arrests in June totaled up to 183, including 4 women and 9 children.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Liberties and Human Rights Department in Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society revealed numbers of the regime’s violations in June 2013. The number of arrests in June totaled up to 183, including 4 women and 9 children.More than 68 injuries were reported during the month due to the regime’s use of excessive force against the peaceful protesters demanding democratic transition in Bahrain.Note: 42 detainees who had been arrested in June were freed, 130 of the freed detainees were arrested before June.The regime forces raided more than 263 homes, most raids took place during after midnight or at dawn. The terrorizing raids included vandalism and robbery of the households’ belongings as well as verbal abuse. The LHRD documented 29 cases of brutal and inhumane torture practiced by the regime forces for vengeful reasons. Moreover, 49 cases of vandalism of private property were documented.The number of street protests in June reached 448 in different areas across Bahrain. While regime forces used force and violence to crackdown on the daily protests, imposing collective punishment on 206 residential areas that witnessed protests demanding democratic transition.The regime in Bahrain is practicing continuous violation of and restriction on religious freedom. Last month, the regime forces repeatedly attacked worshippers and prevented prayers being held at the Abu-Thar mosque in Nuwaidrat. The mosque is one of 38 mosques that were demolished during the state of emergency in 2011 and goes back to 70 years of age.Another example of the ongoing provocations against and violation of religious freedom took place in late June when regime forces raided a place of worship and threw the Hussaini Stones -which Shiites use for prayer- in the toilet.  /129
