(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society stressed that the trial of both Mahdi Abu Deeb and Jalila Al-Salman, Bahrain Teachers Association president and deputy president, are malicious and politically motivated and is related to freedom of expression.Surprisingly, Bahrain’s Court of Cassation has informed the defendants lawyer, that an urgent date of court appearance has been set for next Monday (1-7-2013). Al-Wefaq Education Team says that Abu Deeb and Al-Salman are prominent educational figures who have participated in many international and local conferences representing teachers and devoting themselves to the education and learning in Bahrain. Such efforts must be highly appreciated by the ministry of Education rather than punishing them for their opinions. However, these vindictive trials will be a black stain in the history of the Bahraini authority. The team urges the authorities to implement the recommendations of both the UN Human Rights Council and the BICI report by dropping all charges against them, immediately releasing them and reinstating them in their jobs./129
