Day of Anger against Morsi; Egyptian Demonstrators Set Fire to Israeli Flag

A large number of people from different parts of Egypt have been gathering at Cairo’s Tahrir Square this morning.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Marking a “Day of Anger” against Mohamed Morsi, they are calling for the president to step down, Al-yawm Al-Sabi daily wrote. Political parties and factions opposed to Morsi, had been calling on their supporters to take part in the rally in the capital. There will be more anti-Morsi demonstrations in several other cities across Egypt today. The Tamarrod, (rebellion) youth movement said more than 22 million Egyptians have signed a petition calling for the country’s president to quit. Meanwhile, parties and groups backing Morsi have also urged their supporters to hold rallies in Cairo today. According to a report by Egypt’s Ministry of Health, 7 individuals have been killed and over 600 wounded in the clashes that have taken place in Egypt since last Wednesday. One year after Mohamed Morsi took office in the country following the ouster of former Dictator Hosni Mubarak, the opposition is calling for early presidential elections. In other news, a number of Egyptians have held a sit-in protest in front of the Ministry of Defense protesting the US and Israeli meddling in Egypt’s internal affairs. On Israeli flags they wrote slogans like “This is the Egyptian nation’s message to the dogs of Mossad”, “We will foil Mossad’s plots to create civil war in Egypt”, and “Egypt will never fall”. They then set the Zionist flags on fire.End item/ 149
