Al-Wefaq denounces the Bahrain regime’s systematic targeting of holy places

Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society denounced the ongoing attacks vandalism and the demolishing many mosques in Bahrain have been subjected to. Al-Wefaq stressed that the Government takes responsibility for the ongoing attacks for its support to these militias.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Once again, the Imam-Hadi mosque in Hamad Town has been subjected to attacks. On Monday morning, civil militias supported and funded by official parties vandalized the mosque’s properties. The attack comes just a few days after regime forces prevented prayers in the Abu-Thar mosque which was demolished by the regime in 2011.Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society denounced the ongoing attacks vandalism and the demolishing many mosques in Bahrain have been subjected to. Al-Wefaq stressed that the Government takes responsibility for the ongoing attacks for its support to these militias.Al-Wefaq said such incidents explain how the regime is pushing for a culture that is strange to the Bahraini society and people who have long lived coexistence and respect for religious freedom, and especially Islamic holy places.Al-Wefaq stresses that demolishing mosques is a major crime and not rebuilding them is another dangerous crime. It is imperative that these mosques are rebuilt and protected from attacks and vandalism. As long as the regime does not take this responsibility, this means that it is insisting on and continuing to target religious freedom and attack religious rituals./129
