Al-Wefaq: Bahrain crisis is about demands for democracy

Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society stated that the regime’s ridiculous fabricated stories aimed to mislead the public cannot cover the fact that the majority of the people of Bahrain demand democratic transition in face of an authoritarian minority who control wealth and power.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society stated that the regime’s ridiculous fabricated stories aimed to mislead the public cannot cover the fact that the majority of the people of Bahrain demand democratic transition in face of an authoritarian minority who control wealth and power.Al-Wefaq said that the many fabricated incidents the regime has used to torture citizens are not worth commenting on. The regime’s fabrications, being incidents of attacks or the tens of terror units it had announced to have discovered, have only further complicated the political scene and taken Bahrain farther away from solution and stability, al-Wefaq added.Any regime should be based on the legitimacy of its people in order for its institutions and apparatuses to function with impartiality and integrity, Al-Wefaq said. This is what the National Democratic Opposition Parties have demanded in the Manama Document. On the Interior Ministry’s promotion for footage of a youth making confessions, Al-Wefaq said, tens of confessions of the like were broadcasted on state TV decades ago. However, it added that such methods attempt to push the country into a whirlpool of conflict.    Al-Wefaq stressed that the evident torture crimes in Bahrain need to be looked into by an international body. Cancelling the visit of the United Nation’s Special Rapporteur on Torture to Bahrain proves that the torture that had been documented in the BICI report as well as other international reports is ongoing in Bahrain, al-Wefaq stated.   /129
