Bahraini opposition delegation to South Africa studies transition and difficulties of building a civil society

Delegates of the Bahraini National Democratic Opposition Parties have met with Ms Judith February, Head of Democracy and Governance in the Human Science Research Council in the Republic of South Africa.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Delegates of the Bahraini National Democratic Opposition Parties have met with Ms Judith February, Head of Democracy and Governance in the Human Science Research Council in the Republic of South Africa.Ms February spoke to the delegation about the transition process in South Africa that began back in the 80s. In the meeting, she also discussed the challenges of the settlement negotiations and the demands of liberation from apartheid policies. Ms. February explained methods to avoid civil war and economic breakdown. She conveyed collective efforts to build a civil society.The second meeting of the delegation’s first day there was with Mr Mohammed Bhabha, former minister of Government and member of Parliament and lead African National Congress Negotiator on the Constitutional Issues. Mr. Bhabha gave a presentation on the milestones of the South African struggle for liberation from apartheid policies. He explained how the South Africans achieved transitional justice and were able to promote a culture of human rights despite all obstacles./129
