(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Khalil Al Marzooq, the political assistant of Al Wefaq National Islamic Society’s Secretary General, stated that there is a number of options to ensure the protection of rights of all under a political system based on citizenship and the will of the people. Tyranny brings nothing but destruction, he added, the people of Bahrain are determined to take their rights back no matter the sacrifices. From today on, we will not tolerate discrimination, exclusion, oppression and slavery, he said. “After 14 February 2011, the people swore to take back all their rights regardless of the ruler’s desires”, Al Marzooq stated. He stressed, “The stability of any political system can only be guaranteed by equality between all citizens, and equality starts with elections which should be the base and heart of any political system”.Al Marzooq warned that any political system formed on bases other than the “one person-one vote” principle would only result in a disaster because citizenship and equality in rights and duties will not be achieved. Al Marzooq said, “Fear from political dominance can be addressed through a rights system that cannot be over crossed, in addition to real obligation to international covenants and a fully independent and impartial judicial system that is structured to protect rights in terms of legislation and practice “. He added, “An independent judicial system can only be achieved by a social contract (constitution) and an independent constitutional court that is immune to constitutional breaches, an activated legislation system, qualified and independent judges, effective judicial inspection, powerful and independent lawyers and by ensuring access to justice for all.“Political dominance can be addressed by strict legislations that prevent violations of rights and by the monitor of the independent constitutional court. The political dominance must not be allowed to drop any monitor tools, whether questioning or inquiry. All cabinet members, including the Prime Minister must be monitored and questioned. “Furthermore political dominance can be addressed through real representation of the people’s will in the government through rivalry on election platforms and the prevention of monopoly of power.“Security forces must not be a tool used by the political dominance to suppress and violate rights but rather protect rights and freedoms of all and therefore participation of all is needed”. Commenting on the current situation and the ongoing repression and violations Al Marzooq said, “Once the regime stops its retaliation and repression, we can then be optimistic that it is heading towards a political solution. But how can we be optimistic while it continues to act like a hungry beast?” adding, “The rulers think that God has granted them open mandate to control the country, instead of protecting it through justice.” /129
