(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Resigned MPs from Al Wefaq presented at a conference in London on Bahrain hosted by the Next Century Foundation, Friday 10th May.Abduljalil Khalil, Khalil Almarzooq and Ali Alaswad presented on the current situation, democracy and the future of Bahrain to an audience of international figures, diplomats and other interested parties.The conference covered a range of themes, including Bahrain now, democracy in Bahrain, freedom of expression, foreign actors, rapprochement and Bahrain in 2014.Abduljalil Khalil discussed the ongoing human rights crisis, highlighting the wide abuses committed by the regime. He argued that the regime is engaging in a security approach rather than joining the political solution supported by the opposition.Khalil Almarzooq presented on the international norms of democracy, proving that Bahrain’s absolute monarchy is far from this. He outlined the democratic demands of the opposition.Resigned MP Ali Alaswad looked ahead to 2014, making clear that the opposition favours a peaceful, democratic future for Bahrain. He said Bahrain needs political dynamism, economic prosperity and social harmony, warning that if the Government refuses a political solution it will lead to sectarianism and polarisation./129
