February 14 Coalition Rejects Claims on Iran's Alleged Interference in Bahrain

Bahraini opposition group, the February 14 Coalition, categorically dismissed the recent allegations raised by certain regional states and media about Tehran's alleged interference in Bahrain's internal affairs.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - "The Al-Khalifa and the al-Saud are seeking to scare the regional nations from Iran by making them believe that Iran is interfering in the regional countries' internal affairs," Spokesman of the February 14 Coalition Abdolraou'f al-Shayeb said in an interview with Iran-based Arabic-language al-Alam news channel on Wednesday.

Meantime, he blasted the al-Saud for its attempts to annex Bahrain to Saudi Arabia, and said, "The Bahraini people from all walks of life stress the necessity for Bahrain's independence, specially from the collapsed Saudi regime."

Anti-government protesters have been holding peaceful demonstrations across Bahrain since mid-February 2011, calling for an end to the Al Khalifa dynasty's over-40-year rule.

Violence against the defenseless people escalated after a Saudi-led conglomerate of police, security and military forces from the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) member states - Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar - were dispatched to the tiny Persian Gulf kingdom on March 13, 2011, to help Manama crack down on peaceful protestors.

So far, tens of people have been killed, hundreds have gone missing and thousands of others have been injured.
