The King's presence on the dialogue table does not infringe the constitution or law

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Sayed Jameel Kadhim, the spokesman of the National Democratic Opposition Parties team on the dialogue's preparation table stated that in Sunday's session the opposition's team insisted that the authority be represented in the dialogue adding that this is essential grounds for the success of the dialogue and overcrossing it means the dialogue is a failure.

Kadhim said the opposition questioned the absence of the King or his representative on the dialogue table and if his presence would infringe the constitution or law or come contrary to international standards. "We were not given any logical reason for the refusal of the King's representation in the dialogue and this delays the success of the dialogue.

He said it is crucial that the authority the creates appropriate situation for the dialogue by releasing the political prisoners, especially the jailed political figures and activists, and by stopping the inciting and hatred speech practiced by the official and quasi-official media in addition to the importance of allowing everyone including the opposition access to the official media.

"The referendum on the dialogue outcomes is a must in order for it to be successful and represent the Bahrainis' demands and inspirations," adding," the national democratic opposition parties' team affirmed its desire to start the discussion in the dialogue's agenda but not on the expense of the dialogue's success. The people are paying the price for the continuation of the crisis but this doesn't mean we go into procedures that do achieve a serious dialogue or agreements that can end the crisis".

Kadhim also stressed on building bridges of confidence by rebuilding the demolished mosques, releasing political prisoners and stopping all prosecutions as well as the collective punishment on residential areas, adding that security forces must withdraw from residential areas and leave the citizens to enjoy a normal life and practice their rights without being subjected to violence and repression.

"We found through the discussions that all the parties in the dialogue -other than the opposition- are one and reply on behalf of the authority", Kadhim said questioning if these parties are agents or delegates or representatives of the authority or just volunteers.

Kadhim stressed that the national democratic opposition parties' team is demanding an appropriate environment for the dialogue and a guarantee that a genuine and serious dialogue will be held based on internationally known guaranties in the globe. Otherwise, the official party is considered to be playing with time and eluding from the dialogue and this is what we refuse, he said. "We do not accept the attempts led by some officials including the Justice Minister make a failure of the dialogue by playing with the agenda and wasting time on arguments that turn the dialogue table into controversy ground instead of creating the atmosphere for a genuine dialogue".
