(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society said that the statement made by the Royal Court Minister is inaccurate and far from reality. The root of the existing problem lies in the absolute authorities that the 2002 unilateral constitution has given to the king and by which Bahrain became an absolute Monarchy instead of the constitutional monarchy promised in the National Charter.
This was what brought the national democratic opposition parties to object to this constitution since then and forever, and what lead to boycotting the parliamentary elections, Al-Wefaq said.
This non-agreed constitution has produced non-agreed-upon institutions that the opposition has worked from within in a forced situation. However, these institutions have lost the peoples’ recognition after 14 February 2011 and as the national opposition withdrew from the parliament and boycotted the by-elections, al-Wefaq stated.
Al-Wefaq stressed that the only agreed-upon reference in Bahrain is that the sovereignty lies with the people of Bahrain as "the source of all powers" in a constitutional monarchy that needs a consensus on its details.
Referring the dialogue's outcomes to the existing fake institutions is absolutely refused, al-Wefaq added, it entrenches the crisis instead of finding a solution and this approach is an expropriation of the dialogue.
Al-Wefaq is persistent to national solutions which stem from the core of the people's will and aspirations far from any foreign impacts, and this is a firm approach of the opposition which derives its power from the people's will and choices as the people are the source of all powers.
