Bahrain Opposition Parties condemn the suspicious attacks and affirm the right to peaceful protest

The National Democratic Opposition Parties in Bahrain affirmed their persistence to the "Nonviolence Principles Declaration" as a strategic choice in the peaceful demands movement toward transition to democracy, stressing on the right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly and their firm and strong refusal of all kind of violence from all sides.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) -  The National Democratic Opposition Parties deeply concerned over the incidents of live-ammunition firings in the residential areas of Diraz and Aali, as well as Buri where two youths sustained injuries. In addition to a deliberate run-over in Dar-Kulaib by a civilian car which was then identified, nonetheless, the concerned authorities have not taken any measures to arrest the criminal, and this proves right the impression that these crimes are committed under official cover up.       Meanwhile, the national democratic opposition parties are observing the suspicious attacks on some Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) of a number of banks, and hereby, clearly declare their condemnation of such acts whoever stands behind them.  The national democratic opposition parties are anxious of the attempts taken by official parties to drag the situation into a violence cycle in order to crush any hope for opportunities of a serious and inclusive political solution that achieves transition to democracy in Bahrain.      The national democratic opposition parties persist to the right of peaceful protest and assembly and so call on its masses to stick to this approach and participate in all peaceful events, and call on the international community to take a clear stance for the protection of freedom of expression and peaceful assembly and protest and to take a stance to stop the official violence. Statement issued on 24 Feb 2013;National Democratic Opposition partiesAlWefaq National Islamic Society (AlWefaq)National Democratic Action Society (Waad)National Democratic Gathering Society (AlQawmi)Unitary National Democratic Assemblage (Wahdawy)Ekhaa National Society (Ekhaa)/129
